Summer College Campus Programs

Many colleges host programs for high school students during the summer months. 

Below is the list of programs that have sent information to MA.

Summer in NYC, a Pre-College Program at Barnard College of Columbia University:Many courses are offered, such as Economics and Happieness, Musical Theatre Writing Workshop and Masterpieces of Art in NYC. Courses are offered in a four-week program or as one-week options. Please check for more information.

Carnegie Mellon Summer Opportunities:July 1 - August 11, 2017. Summer Pre-College Programs in Architecture, Art, Design, Drama, or Music. Advanced Placement/Early Action Program where students take two regular college classes for full college credit. Pre-College Fine Arts where students can explore a discipline in order to determine their interest level. National High School Game Academy where students learn interactive digital game development through hands-on experience. More information available at:

College of William & Mary Pre-Collegiate Summer Program in Early American History 2017: Two 3-week sessions: June 25-July 15 or July 17-August 5. During each session, students can choose to take one of two courses: From Jamestown through the American Revolution OR From the American Revolution through the Civil War. Students will earn college credit, study archeological sites and visit museums. More information and an application can be found at 

George Washington University (DC) Summer Scholars Pre-College Programs: Spend your summer in the Nation's capital. Participate in 1-week, 3-week or 6-week college intensive programs and earn college credit. For more information go to

Ithaca Writers Institute: A summer program for high school students in the areas of poetry, fiction, personal essay, graphic narratives, magazine writing or editing & publishing. Check more info. 

Pratt Institute (NY) Precollege Program, classes run July 1-26, 2019.Programs in architecture, art history, creative writing, fashion design, graphic design, interior design, painting and drawing, sculpture, jewelry and more Go to for more information and an application.

University of New England: Summer Early College; Coastal Marine Ecology; participate in a plankton tow, ride on a research vessel, complete biological surveys at the intertidal, take a whale watch, earn college credits. Students should be entering their junior or senior year of high school. Other porgrams include Neuroscience, Pre-Law and Creative Writing/Poetry. Find more information at

Washington University in St. Louis High School Summer Scholars Program for high school students completing their sophomore or junior year. Earn college credits in a wide selection of courses. Must have a B+ average in high school courses. Check the web site for more info!

Harvard Pre-College Program: a two week residential experience featuring non credit courses.

Join other intellectually curious high school students on campus at Harvard, where you can explore topics as wide ranging as American law, philosophy, computer programming, and public speaking. The program features:

  • A choice of over 50 noncredit courses designed to give pre-college students a preview of college academics.
  • On-campus housing with fellow pre-college students and residential staff.
  • Structured days, with weekday class meetings and pre-college activities.
